Final Observations

These last two final observations were sad. By this point, I have connected with multiple kids in the class and have worked with them one on one. Working with these kids makes me realize how much I want to become a teacher. I think that it so important for teachers to love what they do and do it for the kids, not for anything else. Teaching is such an important job because it effects generations of students. After being at these observations, it made me realize how much I want to become a teacher. I want to become a teacher because I love the kids and I love being able to help them. Throughout this whole observation experience, I feel that I have grown as a person and my love for wanting to be a teacher continued to grow throughout each day and each experience with those kids. Saying goodbye to them on my last day was very hard. I didn’t think that I would miss them as much as I do. Also, through Ms. Infield, I have learned plenty of new ways, that I never would have thought of, on how to teach a class. Overall, this whole observation experience has been a very positive experience and I look forward to the day I can teach my own class.  

Observation3

After two weeks of observations, I have been able to learn student’s names and form bonds with them. Knowing that I am going to get to see these kids and work with them makes me excited to go to these observations. Whenever the students see me in the classroom, they would run up to me and give me hugs. They would tell me how excited that they were to see me and they fought over who got to sit next to me and work with me. Ms. Infield began to pair me with a student named Isaiah. When I would work with Isaiah, you could tell how smart he was, it just took him a little longer to be able to comprehend things and come up with the answers. He was very nice to work with, especially since you could tell how much he wanted to learn and loved learning. I love working with Isaiah because he always amazes me with how smart he is and how well he actually comprehends the material that he is learning. My favorite thing throughout these observations is definitely the small groups. I love to be able to for a bond with the kids. This bond that I continue to form with these students makes me look forward to teaching more and more. 

Observation2

As I continue to observe Ms. Infield and her way of teaching, I keep finding and liking her style more and more. She continues to have her students write out the vocabulary words in the air with their fingers. She also keeps allowing the students to come up to the Smart Board and become interactive with the class and the lessons for the day. Something that she would do when the students would start to get too loud, she would say “1,2,3 eyes on me” and the students would respond “1,2 eyes on you.” This saying draws the student’s attention back to her and their tasks at hand. She also makes sure that the lessons that she is teaching don’t take up more than 20 minutes at a time. I like this way of teaching because if you have younger students working on activities for a long period of time, it will be very easy to lose their attention and for them to begin to get distracted. One thing that she would do, is small groups. She would have 5 stations for her students to go to and rotate throughout the time that was allotted for these group activities. During these activities, she allowed me to work with the students. I got to help the students with their spelling and reading comprehension. These students never failed to impress me. Their reading and comprehension skills were incredible for being second graders.
